You can do cardio intervals with any kind of movement that uses multiple big-muscle groups and gets your heart rate way up within seconds, Swan says. Try this 8-Minute HIIT Total Body Workout or create a DIY version: Sprint, do plyometrics (explosive full-body jumping moves like squat jumps, burpees, and speed-skater lunges), jump rope—you get it. Whatever you choose, push as hard as you can, recover, then go as hard as you can again. The rules: Get breathless. Let your muscles burn. Empty the tank by your last interval.
Being stuck at a desk all day shouldn’t be a hurdle to your weight loss. Remember, sitting too long is linked with an increased risk of many serious health conditions, including breast and colon cancer, heart disease, diabetes besides weight gain. It is recommended that you should get up every 30 minutes from your desk. A standing desk might not help you slim down a lot, but it will help improve health as well as blood sugar levels, which is good for weight loss.
Arteries (are-te-rease): The blood vessels that carry oxygen-rich blood away from your heart for delivery to every part of your body. Arteries look like thin tubes or hoses. The walls are made of a tough outer layer, a middle layer of muscle and a smooth inner wall that helps blood flow easily. The muscle layer expands and contracts to help blood move.
"Only doing abdominal-focused workouts, like crunches, won’t help you banish the bulge. Belly fat is simply where your body stores energy, so you need to take a whole-body approach to tackle it. HIIT training (high intensity interval training) is a great way to burn fat and get your heart rate up. Squats, burpees and treadmill sprints are all examples to try."

Natural foods, natural lifestyle. Yes, you can lose fat naturally just by living a clean, natural diet, because getting back to nature is good for our health. This holistic approach includes the foods we eat, the exercise we do and our lifestyle. Natural food really just means good old fashioned fruits, vegetables, dairy and meat. Again, nothing processed, everything prepared from fresh ingredients that are packed with vitamins. Some call this a primal diet, others a paleo diet, but they are all the same – no processed foods.
B-complex and calcium are vital for your well-being. While most women are unaware of this fact, some do take these supplements. There is a rise in the estrogen levels after puberty. This helps in housing the good fat, or protective fat, in your hips and your tummy, while it prepares your body for pregnancy. When you reach menopause, the estrogen levels drop, and the protective fat settles down around your belly area. Therefore, B-complex vitamins and calcium are not only vital for your well-being, but they also help in regulating the levels of estrogen in your body. These supplements flush out the excess estrogen, making sure you have a slimmer middle.
Solely doing abdominal exercises isn't going to have enough of an impact to reduce belly fat. However, this doesn't mean you shouldn't do these exercises, because they still strengthen and tone the muscles under the fat, help prevent injuries, ease lower back pain, and improve your posture and athletic performance. Exercises such as crunches on a stability ball, bicycle crunches, reverse crunches and knee raises in a captain's chair are easily incorporated into a full-body strength-training routine.
Maintaining your weight loss is all about balance, you should try to follow the 80/20 rule. Focus 80 percent of the time on eating healthy, belly-friendly foods that shrink the waistline and fight inflammation. Then 20 percent of the time, you have room to veer off track a bit. This 20 percent is your splurge. You may choose to have one day a week where you have a splurge meal, or you may opt for a small snack twice a week where you don’t exactly make the healthiest choice.
The BBC have blatantly made NO attempt to be balanced in its coverage of Brexit since before the referendum so this is no surprise. I gave up watching or listening to the BBC (and CH4) long ago and feel great resentment that I have to pay a TV license fee to fund this corrupt left wing organisation. The TV license fee should be abolished and the BBC should self fund as all other media does and I really do not care if they survive or not.
And maybe a new mattress, because it’s not just the amount of time you spend sleeping that keeps you lean, it’s also the quality of your sleep. Fat cells in your body produce a hormone called leptin that helps the body keep track of how much potential energy (i.e. fat) it has stored. But leptin is only produced during certain stages of sleep. Miss out on those stages because you’re not resting soundly enough, and you’ll disturb levels of the hormone, leaving your body with no real idea of its energy reserves. Consequently, you’ll end up storing calories rather than burning them.
Physical activity helps burn abdominal fat. “One of the biggest benefits of exercise is that you get a lot of bang for your buck on body composition,” Stewart says. Exercise seems to work off belly fat in particular because it reduces circulating levels of insulin—which would otherwise signal the body to hang on to fat—and causes the liver to use up fatty acids, especially those nearby visceral fat deposits, he says.
But the good news is that there are techniques to help reduce belly fat, which affects your health in a way that other fat doesn’t. Excess belly fat has been linked to an increased risk of high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes, heart disease, dementia, and certain cancers, including breast cancer and colon cancer. Getting rid of your love handles doesn’t just make you feel and look good, it’s one of the best things you can do for your health. Perhaps, it could make your life even more rewarding. After all, you feel motivated when you find yourself slipping into that skin-tight denim you haven’t worn it for years. Yet, the compliments that come flying your ways can inspire you and help you stick to your healthy eating and exercise routines. Remember, diet and exercise go hand in hand when it comes to maintaining a healthy body weight. So, if you’re really looking for an effective way to lose weight and belly fat, including these simple workouts in your fitness regime can help you achieve your goals faster. A diet that’s low in fat and carbohydrates can improve artery function, according to a 2012 study by Johns Hopkins researchers. After six months, those on the low-carb diet had lost more weight, and at a faster pace. But in both groups, when weight was lost—and especially when belly fat shrank—the arteries were able to expand better, allowing blood to travel more freely. The study shows that you don’t have to cut out all dietary fat to shrink belly fat. For heart health, simply losing weight and exercising seems to be key.

Salt, in moderation, is a good thing—the mineral is necessary for a healthy heart and brain. But too much salt and you’ll retain water, bloating up like a water balloon. Cutting salt is one of the primary ways to drop extra water weight (one reason you may see a big weight loss when starting a new diet!). Move the salt shaker off your table so you’ll get out of the habit of routinely salting all your food. Then if you taste your food and still really want salt you can still stand up and get some. For more weight loss benefits, add these fat-burning foods to your plate to help you lose weight.
Want to lose that belly fat? In your dreams! Seriously, though: a good night’s sleep is one of the best ways to get rid of that extra fat around your waist for good. Among the 60,000 women participating in the Nurses’ Health Study, those who snoozed for fewer than five hours a night were at the greatest risk of becoming obese and gaining 30 or more pounds over the course of the 16-year study period when compared to those who slept for seven or more hours.
“Under normal conditions, humans absorb only about 80% of the nutrients from the food they eat,” says A. Roberto Frisancho, Ph.D., a weight-loss researcher at the University of Michigan. But, he says, when the body is deprived of nourishment, it becomes a super-efficient machine, pulling what nutrients it can from whatever food is consumed. Start eating again normally and your body may not catch up; instead it will continue to store food as fat.
‘When you’re frazzled, your body increases its production of steroids and stress hormones, which negatively affect your digestive system, causing major constipation,’ says Dr. Reichman. And as if that weren’t enough to leave you looking pouchy, stress also amps up the production of cortisol, the ‘fight or flight’ hormone that sends excess fat directly to your midsection in its attempt to protect your vital organs. To minimise tension, Dr. Reichman advises taking 20 minutes a day to relax.
You can do cardio intervals with any kind of movement that uses multiple big-muscle groups and gets your heart rate way up within seconds, Swan says. Rather than a long and low-intensity cardio workout, try the HIIT method of cardio: intense, fast-paced intervals that leave you completely exhausted after only a 20- to 30-minute session. This form of cardio training increases the afterburn effect, allowing your body to continue burning calories long after your workout is over. You can rotate between 30 seconds of your favorite exercises, with rest in between, as long as they work different muscle groups—such as squats, push-ups and kettlebell swings.
Cycle your fat away. Whether you jump on your bike or hit a cycling class at the gym, cycling is also a great way to burn fat. A cycling class can help you increase your intensity to ensure you're burning as much fat as you can, but you may find it easier to incorporate riding a bike into your routine. For instance, you could bike to work instead of taking your car.[5]
Keep healthy snacks handy at work to limit the temptation of the vending machine or treats available in the break room. Good options include carrot and celery sticks, slices of cucumber, apples, bananas, small snack packs of nuts and whole-grain crackers. For example, you save 240 calories skipping the break room deli bagel and snacking on a medium banana you brought from home during the mid-morning munchies. Snacking on a 23 almonds in lieu of the vending machine Snickers bar in the mid-afternoon can save you another 118 calories.
You can also consider the option of resistance training as well. But it is advisable to take start with some cardio and belly fat reduction exercises only. You can go for resistance training after sometime. 20–30 minutes of cardio exercises and 20–30 minutes of belly fat spot reduction exercises will make a well organized workout regime. So don’t delay begin your journey right away.
Doing crunches until the cows come home? Stop it! When you're down to your final inches of belly fat, the dreaded crunch won't be the exercise that finally reveals your six-pack. "You can't spot reduce," Jill says. Instead, she suggests doing functional exercises that use the muscles in your core—abdominals, back, pelvic, obliques—as well as other body parts. "These exercises use more muscles, so there is a higher rate of calorie burn while you are doing them," she says. Planks are her favorite functional exercise—they activate not just your core muscles but also your arm, leg, and butt muscles.
