If you want to lose belly fat fast, you also need to avoid certain food groups and specific foods as well. It is also important to learn how to cook delicious meals that can specifically help you lose belly fat. You can even accelerate your fat loss by doing certain types of exercises. Unfortunately I cannot cover all this information in one post but you can find all this information in my e-book Blast Your Belly Fat.
Calorie for calorie, sugar is different to other food groups such as protein, complex carbohydrates, and fat, because it confuses your normal appetite controls and causes your body to produce fat. Refined sugars are often hidden in a plethora of different products that you wouldn't expect such as fruit juices. Make sure to check the labels before eating the products.
Bend at your hips and hold a kettlebell (or dumbbbell) with both hands at arm’s length in front of you. Now rock back slightly and “hike” kettlebell between your legs. Then squeeze your glutes, thrust your hips forward forcefully, and swing the weight to shoulder height. Allow momentum to swing the weight—you’re not trying to actively lift it with your arms.
Keep your portions under control when you eat away from home. Controlling portions at home when you sit down for a meal is often easier than at a restaurant, where portions sizes for one meal often contain the recommended calories for one person for an entire day, or at a friend's house, where you cannot control what goes into the meal. Luckily, there are a few things you can do to control your portion size in places where you don't have perfect control over your food:
The body doesn't react to all fats in the same way. Research correlates high intake of saturated fat (the kind in meat and dairy) to increased visceral fat, says Patton. On the other hand, monounsaturated fats (the kind in olive oil and avocados) and specific types of polyunsaturated fats (mainly omega-3s, found in walnuts, sunflower seeds, and fatty fish like salmon) have anti-inflammatory effects in the body, and if eaten in proper portions may do your body good. But Patton warns that eating too much fat of any kind increases your calorie intake and could lead to weight gain, so enjoy healthy fats in moderation.
2. Boxing: I let my clients do boxing as I feel that it’s a great way to pump up your heart rate and increase sweating. Higher the heart rate the more calories they’ll be burning. Usually I instruct my clients to do one minute of punches or combinations usually on boxing pads but can also be done on a punch bag followed by 30 seconds rest. Usually I repeat this exercise several times until my clients are fit. Then I let them hold the plank in between rounds as an active rest.
If you're among the 30% of Americans who sleep less than six hours a night, here's one simple way to whittle your waistline: catch more Zs. A 16-year study of almost 70,000 women found that those who slept five hours or less a night were 30% more likely to gain 30 or more pounds than those who slept 7 hours. The National Institutes of Health suggest adults sleep seven to eight hours a night.
Rather than eating a sandwich, choose a salad that is loaded with a wide range of vegetables. Pay attention to the dressing that you add to your salad. Many dressings are loaded with fat and sugar, but you can find some healthier options with a bit of effort. Looking for soy-based dressings may be one option to consider if you have trouble narrowing down your healthy options.
If you get enough protein and fat, your total calorie intake should take care of itself. Because you feel full, you won't binge on a can of Pringles and blow your calorie count for the day. The remaining 45 percent of calories in our plan comes from carbohydrates — enough to give your palate a full range of tastes and your body a combination of fast- and slow-burning fuel.
Taking stairs is one of the best and easiest ways to lose weight while at work. Since walking up the stairs is an aerobic exercise that burns calories, doing this as part of your regular fitness routine will help you shed your belly fat. So, ditch the elevators and take stairs instead to lose weight. Read - Weight loss: Three super effective Yoga stretches to burn belly fat
Assume plank position. Keeping your hands under shoulders, arms locked out straight, and core tight, draw your belly button drawn in toward spine. Tucking your tail bone tucked, bring your right knee toward your chest and touch toes on right foot to ground with left leg in the start position. Then jump switch your feet continuing this back and forth pattern throughout the entire duration of the exercise.
Stress skyrockets your levels of cortisol, often called “the belly fat” hormone because it signals to the body to store fat around your waist. Add the daily stressors of living our modern lifestyle and you can see how cortisol can be constantly coursing through your veins. This perma-stress mode isn’t good for a lot of healthy reasons, your tummy being just one of them, so it’s important to take time every day to de-stress. Yoga, meditation, walking, journaling, doing a hands-on hobby, or playing a musical instrument are all great time-tested methods. (Hint: Know what isn’t? Watching television. The boob tube actually increases your levels of cortisol!)
If you’ve got weight to lose and you want it gone fast, try swapping out your usual proteins in favor of fish. Not only is fish lower in calories than an equivalent amount of beef or chicken, a study published in Obesity reveals study subjects who added omega-3 fatty acids, like those found in fish, to their diets shed more weight and had an easier time keeping it off than those who skipped them.
This is ratio of weight in kilograms to the square of height in meters. This parameter helps doctors judge whether the person will suffer from heart disease or strokes. Those having a BMI of 25-29.9 are considered overweight and those with a BMI of 30 are considered obese. However, this parameter is not always accurate in measuring belly fat. In fact, you can measure your belly fat with a measuring tape in front of the mirror, and set your own targets to reduce belly fat. Looking at the mirror and checking regularly will motivate you to lose the unhealthy fat lining your abdomen.
Cruciferous veggies are one of the healthiest vegetables you can eat, but unfortunately they’re also the ones most likely to cause your tummy to inflate. Thanks to raffinose, a compound that produces extra gas as it breaks down, broccoli, cabbage, cauliflower and the like can seriously increase your waistline. But don’t ditch them forever. Just save them for meals where you can wear loose pants. Here are other surprising foods that cause gas.
Add a cup of low-fat milk, a part-skim mozzarella stick, or a half cup of low-sodium cottage cheese to breakfast, and you may have a belly-busting win. While lots of research links calcium with lower body weights, results from a 2014 study suggest that calcium-containing foods may reduce waist circumference in those genetically predisposed to carrying weight in their midsection.
A diet that’s low in fat and carbohydrates can improve artery function, according to a 2012 study by Johns Hopkins researchers. After six months, those on the low-carb diet had lost more weight, and at a faster pace. But in both groups, when weight was lost—and especially when belly fat shrank—the arteries were able to expand better, allowing blood to travel more freely. The study shows that you don’t have to cut out all dietary fat to shrink belly fat. For heart health, simply losing weight and exercising seems to be key.
Try these simple exercises at office or at home as you watch TV or sit on couch. This exercise provides strength to thighs too. As you watch TV sitting on a couch, just raise the feet to keep the legs straight without any support. As you stretch the legs, the thigh muscles and abdomen muscles will be stressed. Start this with 2 minutes and increase the duration by every minute up to 12 minutes in a single stretch. The intensity can be increased by keeping a weight on the ankles. Keep a small bean bag on ankles, keep a weight of 1-3Kg and then lift the legs. Start with 1 minute and extend it up to 12 minutes. As you do this exercise, abdomen will sucked inside and over a period of time, you will feel healthy appetite and will not overeat.
Consume a maximum of 120 grams of carbohydrates per day to help your body lose belly fat. Low carb diets have the right idea, but they go too far. There is no harm in consuming a healthy amount of healthy carbohydrates. Remember that not all carbs are created equal. Although baked potato and a candy might have the same number of carbohydrates, the potato has fiber and no sugar. Good carbohydrates have little to no sugar in them, and therefore help you lose belly fat.
Researchers think belly fat is distinct from other types of fat — like the stuff under your skin or around your arms or thighs, which doesn't necessarily have negative effects on health — because belly fat could be a sign that you have more visceral fat. That's a type of fat that accumulates around internal organs, impairing their functions and raising stress levels.
In addition to drinking plenty of water while at work, you'll also benefit from an afternoon tea. You can set the tea on your desk and sip it between phone calls. Ginger tea is an excellent choice. It not only calms the stomach, but also contains compounds that move the lunch you ate earlier through your GI tract. If you'd rather, you can sip on a cup of peppermint tea instead. The peppermint eases digestion and reduces bloating, which leaves you with a flatter-looking tummy.
One of the very first cardio exercises to reduce belly fat is walking. Walking is a great and effective way to burn away that ugly belly fat. In fact, it is an excellent fat burner for your entire body. If you follow a healthy diet along with walking at a steady pace for 30-45 minutes for at least four to five days every week, you will witness a gradual decrease in your weight.
When researchers at the University of Tennessee put a group of volunteers on one of two diets—one high in calcium and one not—and cut each group’s calorie intake by 500 calories, they found that the people getting calcium lost twice as much weight (an average of 13lbs) compared with people on the standard diet. Study author Michael Zemel, Ph.D., believes extra calcium helps the body burn more—and store less—fat.
Research also shows that workouts involving high-intensity interval training (HIIT) can help reduce excess fat around your middle. Besides working your core, try incorporating a day or two of more vigorous exercise into your weekly schedule. (You can start with these three beginner routines.) Keep in mind that you can lower your total body fat percentage even by moving around more at work, according to another study.
Tame your stress levels: I know it's easier said than done and I wince at even putting this on the list and making you feel like you're being lectured, but I've got to. There are a lot of things that we can't change in life, but we can adapt and handle them better. Carve out a little time for yourself in the day and try to fill it with something that you enjoy that you find relaxing. Yoga, stretching, writing, reading, meditating - whatever it is, try to treat yourself to at least a little something that settles your mind when you're feeling really stressed out. Stress can wreak havoc on health - not just on appearance or the storing of fat - and it should not be taken lightly.
